Wood professionals

Koskisen is one of the leading mechanical wood processing companies in Finland. Our modern and efficient production plants are situated in Järvelä, Vierumäki and Hirvensalmi. Our turnover in 2008 was ca. 201 m EUR. We offer a job for over 1000 wood professionals. 60 % of our production is exported to different parts of the world. One third of the staff have a degree of master craftsman or journeyman and it is the target that all our employees have taken a degree in wood. The education takes place as an apprenticeship contract during working time

Trained personnel

It is the aim of training to make sure that the whole personnel is qualified and motivated. Training is divided into the following main categories:

introductory briefing
vocational education
training for tasks that require special qualification
work community / organization training; group and team working skills
quality and environmental training

When signing a contract the new employee receives an introductory and work guidance card that has the most important things to be told and taught to the new employee.

Koskisen trains

Vocational education is done either as internal training or it will be bought from an outside trainer. Apprenticeship system is being used to organize training to both old and new employees. Apprenticeship training means that the learning happens by working and the theoretical part of the education supports the learning process. Learning the work duties happens during work time and the theoretical education is organized outside working hours. Apprenticeship training leads to a degree.
