Intermediate report of groundwated investigation completed
According to the intermediate report of the ground water investigations required by the Supreme Administrative Court the chlorophenole content of the groundwater in the Järvelä region has lowered significantly. In spite of the lowered contents, the amount of chlorophenole in some of the samples was still over the limits. It is the meaning to continue investigations until the whole extent of the contaminated area is clarified.
The amount of chlorophenoles in the groundwater has gone down 25 percent from the measurements done at the turn of the 80's and 90's. At the Pyhäoja region there has been a drop of 50 percent.
Investigations done during the Summer and Autumn did not give an answer to all of the questions asked by the Supreme Administrative Court. According to project manager Esa Lemmetty, the investigations will start as soon as the further investigation plan is approved by the Häme Environmental Centre.
- The further investigations will be finished next year, estimates Lemmetty.
