Our large investments in energy production and minimising the emissions have had a huge effect on the company’s total emissions; the particulate emissions of power plants according to the latest measurements are 86 percent lower compared to the values allowed by the environmental licence. The annual particulate emissions have dropped from 87 tons to 12 tons per year.

The share of biofuel from the total thermal energy of Koskisen has grown during the 21st century from 74 percent to 91 percent., which is mostly due to the completion of our own biopower plant in 2006. Last year a steam pipe investment was completed which helps in utilizing the steam of the biopower plant in the heating of the presses at the chipboard factory. With these investments the use of fuel oil has diminished considerably.
