The Sir Paul Reeves Building at the Auckland University of Technology is contemporary and its design offers lots of student-centered learning and social spaces.
The Sir Paul Reeves Building at the Auckland University of Technology was completed in 2013. The architecture of the building is by Jasmax and its design took 15 architects four years to complete. The building is made of many different sections including of shared spaces for students and a 15 storey high tower. The idea was that the architecture of the building would be innovative, cutting-edge and leading.
Every surface seems to be of a different material – the bridges are edged in steel, the lecture theatre’s concrete form is sheathed in a drape of cherry beech and there are stone floors, a green wall, imprinted concrete, glass and plywood. Koskisen birch plywood, KoskiDecor Phenol, is used as wall panelling in several different colours.
